Experience

I have taught and tutored Spanish for over 40 years. I want to spread the ability to speak the Spanish language and help students gain proficiency at something that has rewarded me so much, and has been an important job skill. I was a US Army Master Instructor, and taught technical courses in the Spanish language about aviation safety, helicopter systems, visual and instrument flight planning for nine years and have helped flight students from over 35 countries learn how to understand what they are doing, despite some having limited English backgrounds, after I no longer taught in Spanish.

Hobbies

I'm patient, but enthusiastic. I have been fortunate to have many jobs related to the Spanish language other than teaching, so I can see not only the cultural advantages, but the economic advantages of speaking a second language well. I was lucky enough to teach our soldiers and aviators as well as many of our allies, and really enjoy working with young people. I started out teaching high school, but was very discouraged by the students lack of enthusiasm, expecting the students to like Spanish and my classes, because I was one of those unusual students that enjoyed being in school. I overcame that obstacle and have very positive thoughts about the benefits of education and the joy of teaching
